Toolbox!!!
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve had this problem for a few years and I thought it was time to do something about it. You see my husband had this REALLY awesome red standup toolbox in the garage that has all these nifty drawers that allow for placement of ALL the tools that he has bought over the years. The problem was that he never really kept his tools in the toolbox. 😦 Twice a year when I would do the garage clean out I would go through the process of organizing this awesome toolbox into a semblance of order. But as projects came up or stuff got broken, hubby would go to the toolbox, get out a tool and forget to put it back where he picked it up. It became a problem for me when I began doing some of the projects MYSELF and needed a tool that I knew we should have (because I had cleaned and organized the toolbox) and they wouldn’t be there. I would ask my man where the tool was and his answered would inevitably be, “in the toolbox…I think”.
Well…during the separation, I started buying tools. It started with a hammer and a simple screw driver. You need those to hang up the pictures and put simple furniture together. Then I had to get a drill/screwdriver that was rechargeable. Everybody needs a good pair of pliers, right? And the items kept growing. At some point I decided that I needed a small box with which to house these tools that I bought, so I bought a small toolbox (and it wasn’t easy to find, everybody wants you to buy a big terminator tool box now-a-days).
When we moved back in my hubby found out that MY toolbox was a little better than his and has now made it his go-to box. I’m on him though folks. There’s no removing a tool and not replacing it. I guard my tools like a mother goose guards her eggs. Taking inventory when I know he’s done.
And then last week, I graduated to a bigger box!!! Yep, I’ve acquired enough tools that I now needed something bigger. I’m so proud of my new toolbox. It has two inside areas for my goods and some compartments on the top to house my bits and nails. It makes me smile when I look at it or go inside to retrieve some tool that I need. I’ve always been pretty handy, and now I have the tools AND the toolbox to proof it.
What about you? Are you sharing a box or are you the owner of your own. Send me pics, I’d love to ooh and aah over them.
