It’s the day

Hey Y’all,

I hope that this day and week finds you doing fabulous. It is election day!!!! I hope that you are taking the time out to do your civic job and go vote if you have not already. I’m going to share my planner spread for this week which is pretty minimal because I just couldn’t find anything that made me perk up.

I really wanted to address something that came up a couple of weeks ago and felt like this post would be the best time to talk about it because they are related. Ok….what am I talking about? I don’t have Facebook. Yes everyone, I no longer subscribe to Facebook and I don’t plan on it to occur any time soon.

I used to have a Facebook account for several years. I was never one of those people that went to Facebook every day or every hour. I think my l have too much going on to be on there that much. I didn’t have tons of “friends” because I was very selective about who I let in my circle. Still I had a good number.

I left Facebook in the beginning of September 2016. Can you guess why? If you guessed the huge presidential election of 2016 you would be correct. Now it wasn’t because of the election by itself, but more so it was peoples reactions to everything that was going on during that time and them giving their opinions about it. You had a reality star running for office, Colin Kaepernick protesting and peoples reactions to those protest, mass shootings and peoples thoughts on gun control, reactions to Hillary Clintons emails and should she prosecuted…..and so on. It was a lot. I was seeing/reading peoples opinions and although I am a HUGE proponent of everyone having the right to express their opinion, but at the same time I have the equally HUGE right not to listen/read it.

To read that someone was actually deciding not to vote because they didn’t like neither of the candidates running for president put me in such a funk. I mean come on folks, elections are not just about who is running for president. There are usually local and state offices that are up for grabs. Do these offices not mean anything to you? To read that people felt that Colin Kaepernick was kneeling to disrespect the armed forces was frustrating. Had you looked up why he was protesting, how him came up with the decision to kneel, were you disagreeing with his protest thinking it was invalid, or did you feel that his right to non-violently protest should be prohibited because he was a professional athlete? To read that your 2nd amendment right to carry a gun could not be maintained if there is gun reform that prohibits people from having ready access to guns and going in and killing masses of people because they were having a bad day (and let’s be real, there is nothing valid that can be going on with you that necessitates you taking someone else’s life). To read that people were trippin’ on a woman’s email using that as an excuse to discount her as a valid presidential candidate, but thinking nothing of a man who brags about physically harrassing women. It all was TOO MUCH for me and I decided to take a break from social media.

Initially I thought I was just going to take a break and come back after some time. But I found that I was enjoying my break and decided not to come back to Facebook after the beginning of January 2017. I believe it might have been 6 months later that I decided to open an Instagram account.

I chose Instagram although it was affiliated with Facebook because Instagram is pictures and videos and I could limit who I followed and who I let follow me. Yes, until about a month ago, I had a private Instagram account that I very meticulously monitored for unsavories. I opened up my account to public, but I’m still conscientious of who starts following and who I follow. So that is why I do not have a Facebook account. It’s something that I don’t want to do. If you follow this blog, you will only have my Instagram and Twitter account to follow (if you decide to). Twitter is not something that I have figured out and I’ve had that account for about as long as I had Facebook. If someone has advice on how to best “tweet” please let me know.

So that’s my Facebook story. It ended for many reasons, but looking back the main was hearing/reading people state they were not going to vote.

Now….something that I want to really get across to everyone reading this blog post. You need to get out and vote.

I DON’T CARE WHO YOU VOTE FOR BUT YOU NEED TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE. It is the most important job you will ever have in your life besides parenting (if you chose to be one). Chose the best candidates that are going to be for you. They don’t have to be perfect, no one is perfect; but they have to be the person that resonates with what you want to happen in your life. If you decide not to vote, do me a favor and don’t tell me. I honestly love all of y’all and I don’t want to think less of you. And I’m done.

Finally, here is my planner spread for the week. Again, nothing super fancy just how I was feeling this week…laid back. I hope that you enjoy it and find some inspiration.

Thanks for checking out my blog page, I hope that you decide to come back again and think about subscribing and/or liking it. Also, I would love to hear from you, so leave a comment below.

Until next time,
