So sorry I haven’t posted anything in a week or so, but I have been sick. Actually I have been sick for over a month, but last week it became too much for me and I finally broke down and went to the Wellness Center at work. The diagnosis…Bronchitis and Sinusitis. I left the office with four prescriptions…a steroid and Adoral inhaler for my bronchitis and an antibiotic and nasal spray for the sinusitis. The funny thing was when I went to the pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions. I originally wanted to go to Walgreens or CVS for my prescriptions, but I also needed to go to Wal-Mart for a few things for dinner plus I needed to go to the dry cleaners which was near Wal-Mart. So I relented and went to Wal-Mart.
Let me take a quick note about Wal-Mart: I have a strict Wal-Mart rule…don’t go near the store anytime during the afternoon/evening hours or on the weekends after 11 am. I avoid during these times because it seems that customers are not necessarily motivated to get in and out of the store and the employees are tired and not particularly interested in getting customers out of the store. So I don’t go.
I was assured that even though it was after 5 pm, the pharmacy shouldn’t take too long, 30 minutes at the most. It took us 1 HOUR! My baby doll was in the line saying, “Mommy why can’t we just get your medicine and leave?” We waited the required 30 minutes while they filled the prescriptions, but when we got back to the line to pick them up and pay…there was a line. L To add to the long line, when my time came up the gentleman told me my total was $68.00. I started shaking my head “no”, he asked “why are you saying no.” I shook my head no because it was a couple of antibiotics and some sprays. I’m not paying $68 for that. The inhaler was $30 by itself. I called Stan to ask if there was a drastic change to our insurance. I left the inhaler and the nasal spray and called the insurance company the next day to find out what generics I can use. I found out I could get an inhaler that had 60 puffs versus the 200 they were trying to sell me that was $9.40 instead of $30 and I had them make the switch. I’m more than a week into antibiotics and other drugs and I’m feeling so much better. It’s weird…I’ve been sick so long that it’s weird not being sick anymore. It’s been a month since I’VE kissed my husband or child.
