Sorry I’ve been away

So I have been lost to the blog world for the past three weeks. I started my blog to talk about my life, my passions, my business and on occasion my family. Well some personal things have been going on with me and since I am determined not to post them on my blog, I just didn’t write anything. My life is finally getting back to the normalcy that I endure everyday so I am blogging again.

As far as my creative cooking goes I have come up with a new awesome dessert. I call it the "Red Velvet Brownie". As a matter of fact, I had a couple of my coworkers place orders for some today. I just took them out of the oven. They smell awesome. Kristian is disappointed because she doesn’t get to have any, and has asked that I make her some tomorrow. Our dessert for the week is bread pudding so she will have to deal with that until Sunday when I make something new. Since it is going to be Valentine’s Day I am thinking of buying the heart pan and making my husband a cake. His favorite is chocolate cake, but I think I should make a strawberry/chocolate combo. If anyone is actually reading this blog let me know your thoughts.

It has been snowing a lot here….it has been snowing a lot everywhere actually. I really hate the snow…I think I have mentioned this in a previous blog. Anyway…my book club meeting was postponed until next week because of the snow storm this past Tuesday and now I am going to be extra busy next week because that will be the week that I work the extra day (Tuesday) and I always bring the dessert for book club. If I am at work, it will mean that I have to make the dessert on Monday while I am at home. The only thing with that is it’s Presidents Day and they will be no school I will have to entertain my five year old, clean my house, get ready for a four day work week and make dessert for book club. Just another day in the "Life of Lonnita".

On a business note, I am going to try to attend the Women and Minority business fair on the 24th of this month. I was really inspired by a message my Pastor had given a few weeks ago. In it he was talking about how when God gives you a promise you need to be diligent and faithful to that promise. Even when things are not going your way you still need to be diligent in your faith that God is going to fulfill that which he has promised you. I know that God has given me a gift and that he wants me to excel and prosper using this gift. I can cook…I mean I can really cook. I have seen the vision of my business being where I want it to be, I just have to have faith that God will give me the desires of my heart. At the same time, I need to do the things that I need to do to be ready and prepared when my blessing comes to be. I also have to move on the gifts that he has given me. If I know that I can cook and have a desire to have my own cafe, but never do anything to get me to that place, I am being foolish. I say all that to say that I am going to attend the business fair and see what I can learn. Maybe I will do some networking, maybe I will get my business plan looked at, I don’t know what God has in store for me; but I am going to go with a positive attitude.

I will try to take a picture of the "Red Velvet Brownies" next week after I make them for my book club meeting. Should I be leery of people stealing ideas from my blog. My recipes usually come from a desire of my own. You know you have a taste for something and you have no idea where to find it or no one has never heard of it, so I sit around and try to figure out how to make my "wish". Then I get in my kitchen and put them together. It either is a hit or a flop. If it’s a flop I try again until it becomes a hit. My other source of inspiration is my mother. She says, "wouldn’t it be good if you made…" and I say I will try it and you have another hit.

On another note, my husband and his friend have started a new blog. We eat out a lot and Stan and David eat out a lot for lunch all the time; it’s like we are a huge vat of restaurant information. Someone suggested to my husband that he start a blog of all the places he has been to eat and the "Taste Of Indianapolis" blog was born. I don’t know the exact blog address, but I think you could probably google it and find it. You can google anything and find anything.

Well I’ll sign off now… Until next time stay safe and God bless you.
